Who We Are

Who We Are Pic

Our Beginning…

God has placed Calvary Baptist Church in Charlotte, Michigan to fulfill His purpose of reaching the lost and edifying believers, which God has been doing here for over 100 years! Calvary Baptist Church had its start in 1922, under the leadership of John Zuiderhook, who started this church as the Gospel Tabernacle located on Harris Avenue.

In the early fifties, Pastor Richard Hill led the church to rename as the Harris Avenue Baptist Church. In 1961 George Dagley became the pastor and led the church in the purchase of property and building of a new facility on N. Cochran Avenue in 1964, when the church became organized as Calvary Baptist Church.

Our Mission…

We exist to glorify God by making disciples who know God genuinely, worship God supremely, and serve others selflessly.

Much has changed in the last century, but our purpose does not. Our goal is to fulfill the Great Commission given to us (Matthew 28:19-20) by sharing the good news of Jesus with all and helping others to follow Jesus better. We desire to impact the world starting from where we are, and we seek to accomplish this by seeing churches of like faith planted and by supporting mission efforts around the world.
